We don't play so the kids can.
Thebarton Senior College, in conjuction with Game4SACE, bring you a new fundraising event to benefit the Child's Play charity.
There have been other, awesome, Child's Play fundraisers based on epic game sessions. We're doing something different.
Our challenge - DON'T PLAY ANY VIDEO GAMES FOR 64 HOURS! We will not be playing from 3pm on Friday June 30 and we won't pick up the controller again until 7am Monday morning!
We'll put the controller down and get our friends and family to sponsor us for every hour we don't play. We'll collect the money and send it all to Child's Play.
Care to join us? Check out our FAQs for more information.
Download a sponsorship form, tell us you're joining the cause, and then get out there and not play anything!

FAQs
Why should I do this?
Why the heck not? It's for a good cause and you get to show off to everyone that you CAN go without playing games for a couple of days.
How do I donate money?
Use the Child's Play Pitchin Widget on our page or you can just donate a wad of cash directly to Child's Play at their website. 100% of donations will go to Child's Play.
I'm not allowed to play anything at all?
No electronic games. No consoles, no PCs, no Macs, no handhelds, no tablets, no phones, no online games, not even Farmville! No video games at all.
OMG! What am I supposed to DO for 64 hours?!
Well, plenty of things! Watch some movies? Read a book? Play a board game? Have a non-LAN party with your friends? Or, maybe, go outside and throw the frisbee around?
Do I have to not play over the same period as you?
Not at all! You can decide to not play whenever you want. Just let your sponsors know when you intend to do it. But it would be great if everyone could not play together.
Do I have to not play for 64 hours?
No, you can not play for as long as you can stand it. If that's 3 hours, well, that's OK. If it's 100 hours, that's super awesome!!
Do I need to get people to sponsor me?
You can get them to give you a donation instead. Or you can decide to just donate to the cause without participating in the pain!
What's Child's Play?
An awesome charity to help hospitalised kids get access to entertainment. You can read about it here.
What's Game4SACE?
A games course run by Thebarton Senior College. You can read about it here.
Who are you people?
We're a bunch of gamers who are studying at Thebarton Senior College.
Why 64 hours?
Well we wanted it to be a bit of a sacrifice for us, to show we're serious. Over the course of a weekend seemed to be the best bet. 60 was a good number - it sounded good with 'shutdown'. Then Daniel had the brainwave to make it 64 due to the long and storied history the number has with gamers - Nintendo 64 or, if you are as old as the PC Gaming teacher (who totally put the word 'storied' in there!) - the Commodore 64!
How can I help promote the 64 Hour Shutdown?
Like us on Facebook, tell your friends, or link to us using our banner.
